Applying to the UK JET Programme


 


The application process for the 2013 JET Programme has now closed. The next application period for the 2014 JET Programme will commence in October 2013.

We thank you for your interest in the JET Programme.

 

To apply to the UK JET Programme, you must complete an application form and provide the necessary supporting documentation. Speculative applications and CVs cannot be considered. Application forms are only available during the application period in October and November each year. Please note that documents can NOT be returned.

Prior to your application there are many things you can do to aid your future application to the JET Programme. The following are some suggestions of ways to learn more about Japan:

Although teaching qualifications and experience are not required for an application to the JET Programme, experience working with young people would strengthen a potential application. Be sure to include any kind of formal or informal teaching experience or volunteer work in your application.

Applicants are recommended to research the JET Programme thoroughly before applying, particularly regarding the role of the position for which they wish to apply and the fundamental goals of the Programme. Information can be found here and on the worldwide JET Programme website. It is also very important to read all of the information regarding the application process very carefully, as there are many documents required for an application to the Programme.

Preparing an application for the JET Programme can be somewhat time-consuming so applicants are strongly advised to allow plenty of time for this. We suggest that applicants have their application proof-read before submission, possibly by a university tutor or careers advisor.
