Proof of Degree
Key Points:
- Do NOT send an original degree certificate. Application materials CANNOT BE RETURNED.
- Do send copies of further certificates if they are relevant to your application (e.g. TEFL, TESOL, CELTA).
Current Undergraduates:
Please send an original letter indicating where and on what course you are currently enrolled. It must be on university-headed paper, signed/stamped by the university or someone with the authority to make it official (e.g. departmental secretary, registrar, tutor). This letter MUST state when you are expected to complete your degree.
The wording of this letter should be as follows:
To The JET Programme,
(First name, surname) is (expected/due) to (graduate / complete their BA/BSc course) on (date/month/year).
(Signature)Â Â (Stamp)
Every year we receive a large number of Proof of Degree letters giving a graduation date of ‘July. UK JET Programme participants normally depart for Japan before the end of July, therefore we cannot accept such documents as this wording does not constitute proof that the applicant will complete their degree before departure to Japan. Please ensure that your Proof of Degree letter clearly states that you will have completed your degree before late July of the year of departure.
Graduates:
Please send clear, legible photocopies of your undergraduate degree certificate. Do not send the original, as we are not able to return documents. Copies of postgraduate qualifications are not strictly necessary but are readily accepted.
